One of the really important things for us to learn as Christians is how to be guided by the Holy Spirit. For us, we see the difficulty is that we cannot hear God or we are not sure what it is that God wants us to do. In actuality, the problem is our reluctance to obey. You see the problem is our mind is in control. We want to be sure of the outcome, before we say “yes”. God wants us to say “yes” and trust Him with the outcome. Another thing is that we seek God’s direction for the “big decisions”, but ignore Him in the little things. However, unless we learn to hear and obey God for the little things, then we will definitely have trouble hearing Him in our big decisions. So the way we must start living our life is first to seek His guidance for the little things and learn to obey Him in these. For example, (1) what time should I get up? (2) What should I eat for breakfast? (3) Oh dear I overslept –should I miss breakfast in order not to be late for work or class? (4) Should I study or go and watch a movie? (5) I feel tired, is it Ok to miss life group this week? Then make the choice to do what we sense is the right thing independent of our personal desire or feeling.
Verses of the week:
Acts 13:4 The two of them, sent on their way by the Holy Spirit, went down to Seleucia and sailed from there to Cyprus.
