As Christians under Jesus’ leadership we are wonderfully free, because His leadership overflows with love and that means we do not need to fear. I want to emphasize that as Christians we are called to serve one another humbly in love, just like Jesus serves us. Our relationship with one another in our church should be like that in our ideal picture of the way our natural families ought to be. Aim to make it so! Love each other as brothers and sisters in the same way that Jesus loves us and serve one another gladly with overflowing joy. We should feel free in our church so our actions are not constrained by duty or compulsion or the need to perform, but gladly with delight. Where we lead, it should be done gently with love and sensitivity, so that people do not respond to us under fear or compulsion as though driven. Then it is a pleasure to serve and we draw near to one another and we are no longer lonely and afraid, but blessed by the love received and able to give love too. Let us work towards building a church family which is even more solid and secure than a good natural family.
Verses of the week:
Galatians 5:13 TNIV You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another humbly in love.
2 Timothy 2:24-26 NIV And the Lord's servant must not quarrel; instead, he must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful. Those who oppose him he must gently instruct, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth, and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.
