Hope is absolute confidence. The kind of confidence that is at rest in turmoil, laughs at the actions of the enemy and produces enough faith to at least stand still and see God, if not actively march forward in power and expectancy. Let’s put our hope, At the very beginning of 2008, let’s put our hope in the Lord Jesus Christ who is the hope of all mankind. Pastor Ian Foley's Weekly Message:
Mother’s are wonderful! Their desperate prayer on behalf of those whom they love reaps a harvest of souls. Hudson Taylor, the Christian who played such a large part in opening up the nation of China to the gospel, became a Christian as a result of the desperate, loving and protective prayer of his Mum. There are many men and woman whose salvation is due to the loving, caring devotion of their Mother’s who laid down their lives for their children. As the verse of the week communicates, Samuel the prophet and judge who led the nation of Israel back to God came into this world as a result of the desperate cry of Hannah his Mother. She prayed and offered her child to the Lord. Samuel was born and became a great leader because she was faithful to her commitment. Nothing or no one can replace our Mum’s.
Verse of the week:
1 Samuel 1:16-17 NIV
(16) Do not take your servant for a wicked woman; I have been praying here out of my great anguish and grief." (17) Eli answered, "Go in peace, and may the God of Israel grant you what you have asked of him."
Welcome to Hope Christian Church, Melbourne (Waverley),
We are delighted to extend our greetings to all. The purpose of this website is to acquaint you with a fairly comprehensive picture of our church together with the specific plans for 2008. From this website you should be able to discern the major direction this church is heading, its mission, vision and the goals of the church movement to which we belong. If you are a member of the church we would encourage you to plan to attend all major activities that have been scheduled and to aim to fully serve the Lord to the best of your ability. Take ownership and responsibility for the local church to which you have committed to serve the Lord. Do this as God’s servant in order that His desire to see all men and women saved can be achieved.
Our continued church growth in 2008 will depend on the Lord and our willingness to obey Him. If we rely on our own effort or in our own strength we will fail. More than we have ever done before we need to place our trust in God. Our focus must first and foremost be the person of the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the rock of our salvation and the source of our encouragement and hope. Our focus must be on Him. Let our goal for 2007 be to be able to boast in this, “that we understand and know the Lord and see that He is the God who operates in love, justice and righteousness” (adapted from Jeremiah 9:23-24).
May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word (2 Thessalonians 2:16-17).
May we wish you our very best wishes and God’s richest blessings through 2008.
Ps Dr Ian and Daisy Foley
